The circle is complete
Yesterday I finally got the last Dashboard Confessional CD that I didn't own[0]. So now I have them all, at least until a new CD comes out. =)
[0] Not counting imports or singles.

Top 5 Favorite CDs (in autobiographical order)
- Various Artists - Live 101 Volume 1
- I first got introduced to this CD when I was still in high school. I thought it was really cool to hear acoustic versions of so many radio songs.
- Eve 6 - Horrorscope
- This is a great disc. It has a lot of different types of music on it. From the somewhat angry and bitter On the Roof Again to the slower and more "prom song" Here's to the Night. All the songs are solid.
- Counting Crows - This Desert Life
- Love this disc. I was introduced to this disc with the track Mrs. Potter's Lullaby and the rest of it is just great. Very good music for just chilling out with friends. Perfect for background music or singing along in the car.
- Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory
- This disc was in heavy rotation when I first picked it up[0]. I feel somewhat dirty liking a band that is so mainstream, but I just can't help myself. For cruising down the highway or carving down the moutain, not much is better.
- Dashboard Confessional - So Impossible EP
- Definately had to put some DC on this list. Unfortunately, I really like all of their/his discs, so picking one was somewhat difficult, but I decided on this one. It's only 4 tracks, but every one is outstanding. I think every one of these tracks is on my 'Best of DC' playlist.
Honorable Mentions
- Maroon 5 - Songs about Jane
- Barenaked Ladies - Greatest Hits
- Dashboard Confessional - Swiss Army Romance
- Dashboard Confessional - The Places you Have Come to Fear the Most
- U2 - All That You Can't Leave Behind
- Victor Wooten - A Show of Hands (<--- thanks Mojo)
- Tonic - Lemon Parade
- Sister Hazel - Fortress
- Evanescence - Fallen
- Linkin Park - Meteora
- Lostprophets - Start Something
- Yellowcard - Yellowcard
- Smile Empty Soul - Smile Empty Soul
I really like at least 90% of the tracks on each of these CDs, which is not so much a requirement of the list, but it ended up that way.
What are yours?
(edit: Add honorable mentions as inspired my Mojo)
[0] My roommates can attest to that.

New Music Thursday?
Yeah yeah, I know I haven't posted about music in a while. I went CD shopping the other day and picked up some new stuff. I've only give each CD a single listen-through, so I don't think I can rate the CDs as a whole just yet, but they're pretty good.
New CDs I purchased:
- Matchbook Romance - Stories & Alibis
- Taking Back Sunday - Where You Want To Be
- The Used - In Love and Death
I am always on the lookout for new music, and was looking for something similar to Dashboard Confessional. These CDs aren't exactly what I was looking for, but they are pretty good nonetheless.

Lack of a MotW this week
As my faithful reader has probably noticed by now, I did not post a Music of the Week this week. This was intended. I think I am going to post my list every other week so there will actually be quasi-significant changes from posting to posting. Of course the every other week thing will probably screw me up at some point.

Music of the Week (7/27/04)
So I'm cheating and saying it went out yesterday even though it's the 28th. Sue me. =)
So here's a recap of exacly how these lists are populated. I have a smart playlist[0] which gives me the 25 songs with the highest play count that have been played within the last week. This may get some songs that I have no listened to in a while, but listened to in the past week once or twice. So this list isn't as pure as it could be. The only other solution is to reset the play count on all my songs every week, but I really don't want to do that. There are some repeats from last week, but I am just going to leave them in because I am lazy.
Lots of Dashboard Confessional this week. My younger brother recommeneded the Ataris song on the list and I like it a lot.

[0] It's an iPod thing. You can tell it to make a playlist containing up to X songs which match criteria like "Most often played", "Least often played" or also matching fields in the tags. It's very cool.
