Matt Nathanson concert - 9/26/2007
Bridget and I went to a free Matt Nathanson concert on 9/26 up at the Music Mill. I heard of it through MySpace so we decided to go check it out. He played for about 1.5 hours and it was a really good show. It was a pretty small venue, probably like 500 people or so there. He played mostly new stuff, with a couple of oldies (Answering Machine and Lucky Boy) thrown in there for good measure.
As usual, we was cracking jokes and making a fool of himself. It's a really fun show to go see. It's kinda emo-y, but he doesn't take it too serious and it's just a good time. I'm glad I went and was able to show Bridget a really fun musician just like somebody showed to me.
And as a cool side note, I was watching Scrubs on TV the other day, and I heard the Matt Nathanson song "I saw" playing in the episode. It was pretty cool, actually.

Concert: Dashboard Confessional
Last night I went to see Dashboard Confessional in Fort Wayne, IN. I was looking forward to going, and I almost wussed out at the last second. Thanks to Denise for convincing me to go.
Without a doubt, the best concert that I've ever been to. It's really cool in my opinion where 90% of the people attending are singing along to just about every line of every song. All of my favorite songs were played, along with the entirety of the So Impossible EP.
Just really awesome. Can't wait to go to another one. It was well worth the long drive. It was everything that I had hoped and expected a DC concert to be. Awesome energy and a great performance.

Concert: Matt Nathanson
Went and saw Matt Nathanson play in San Francisco on Friday night. It was a really cool show. The music reminds me of Dashboard Confessional a little bit in the kind of way that it's just him writing and playing and being very into things. I have to say though, he was pretty damn funny up on stage, breaking the ice early on and playing covers of "I Want You to Want Me" and "Losing My Religion" in the middle of his songs.
I would definately suggest picking up his latest album if you want.
4.75 out of 5 pirates.

Concert Review - The Arcade Fire
Went and saw The Arcade Fire play in San Francisco last weekend. All in all, a very cool show. Their music is really good, but it's somewhat hard to classify. The cool thing is that they use instruments other than guitar/drums/bass, such as violins and horns. That and the fact that there are like 9 people in the band. Lots of energy and just very cool music.
4.5 out of 5 pirates.

Concert Review - Kasabian/Jet/Oasis
I saw 3 bands at Shoreline Amphitheater on Sept. 11[0]. Kasabian was the first act, followed by Jet with Oasis headlining the entire thing. First of all, it was a great show. I really enjoyed myself and we had really good seats, which helps a lot.
Kasabian is probably the least well known, and I hadn't heard of them when I bought the tickets. I listened to their CD a little before the concert and it was pretty good, and after seeing them live, I like the CD more. Simply put, Kasabian rocked. They sounded really good live. I give them 4/5, mostly because they weren't on very long (30 mins).
Jet was the 2nd band, and is a band most people know because of their song "Aren't you gonna be my girl" or something along those lines. They were ok live, not bad, but not spectacular either. Of the 3 bands that night, I enjoyed Jet the least. 3 out of 5 pirates.
Oasis kicked all sorts of ass, and I got to see some of the antics by the lead singer. He has definately let the "rock star" thing go to his head. Most of the night (it felt like) he was just posing in front on the stage. Just seems kinda weird when he had a tamborine balanced on his head for 2 minutes while the rest of the band is playing. 4 out of 5 pirates.
Overall, good show and definately worth the money.
[0] Seemed a little odd to me too, but oh well.

U2 Concert
Here's the link to the U2 concert that I went to last weekend. Simply put, they rocked. I've wanted to see them live for a long time. I always heard that they put on a great show and I am not sure how much longer they'll be around...although they probably will. =)
A humorous point in the show came when Bono talked about the time he met the pope. Bono was referring to the pope when he said this:
"He has very piercing eyes, it made me feel like I did something wrong. What can I say...I'm catholic."
I found this _highly_ amusing. =)

The 3rd concert
So I have been to 2 concerts so far in my life (not that many at all by some people's standards). I saw Jars of Clay my Freshman year of college with my friend Nate and I saw Spirit Creek with Tori at Rose. On Sept. 6 I am going to see R.E.M. with Tori. See, she is a _huge_ fan of R.E.M. and has been wanting to go for many years now. This may be their last tour and we are going to the show together. I am not the fan that she is, but I am still getting excited about going to see them with her.
